Its about a native american family living in a bad neighborhood.. it consists of a mom always working, a teenager girl, and her little brother.. i wanna say at the end one of them dies from being shot i wanna say its the little boy but i could be wrong.. its a fairly old movie i watched it when i was 12 -15 i am now 25

Was about a Pomo family. The mom kinda hooks up with a Lakota guy she meets at a bar. Older guy calls himself a Sioux.
There's an older lady turns out to be a medicine woman, teaches the teen girl to come out of her shell.

the only movie I can think of that was from around that time period is Thunderheart.. but the plot is a bit off.. they lived on a reservation.. there was a woman named Maggie Eaglebear who had her mother living with her.. her son is shot by a group of thugs because she has been testing the water.. she was also a member of a group of traditionalists called ARM...
