seussical?

im going to try out for a play called the seussical. i was wondering if anyone knew a monologue or song from the play. all answers appreciated!

Benzoil is absolutely right about not picking a song from the show you are auditioning for. That and you should never sing a song from a show that is very popular atthe moment such as anything on Broadway or on tour (Wicked, Spring Awakening, etc.)

The other thing to consider is what role are you going for and what is your vocal range?

Seussical is a fun show so your song should be upbeat. I would suggest:

Go Into Your Dance – 42nd Street
How Lovely To Be A Woman – Bye Bye Birdie
I Want to go to Hollywood – Grand Hotel
That’ll Show Him – A Funny Thing Happened ... Forum
There’s A Sucker Born Every Minute – Barnum (sung by a man but I think it would be good)
When I Get My Name in Lights – The Boy From Oz (same as above)
When You Got It Flaunt It – The Producers (perfect for Mayzie!)

That's so cool! Seussical is an awesome show! But, if you audition, don't sing a song from the show. I would suggest something from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat or Orange Colored Sky which is a jazz song but it sounds very broadway.

For a monologue, you could do something from a Dr. Seuss like children's book, maybe a Richard Scarry book. Something from Junie B. Jones would be really good (unless you are an adult.)

If you don't want to do something from a children's book, I would suggest something from this website: http://www.whysanity.net/monos/others.html try to find something really fun, nothing too serious because Seussical isn't serious at all!

you shouldn't use a song from the play you are auditioning for. Seussical is a really fun chidlren's show, so just try and find another children's show like A Year with Frog and Toad, or HONK! and pick a song from that.
