When do most people start their periods. I'm thirteen and havn't. And only one of my friends hasn't either.
I've heard that you start with people you are with a lot. And it's usually just her and guy friends. And I don't know if it's normal to not have started now or what.
Thanks for the help.
Much love
Bre

However I would see a doctor if you haven't started by age 18.

If you are around women who menstruate often you could end up getting it around the same time. I was in boot camp in the Navy and there were 50 other women, and a majority of us ended up getting our periods around the same time! (Imagine 50 PMSing women! HAHA)

It is true that you can start your period monthly at the same time someone else you are with alot, usually someone you live with and share close living quarters with. Back when a lot of women lived under one rood, or in one area, they all had the same cycle, it has something to do with hormones. with that being said, it probably has no bearing over when you start you menstrual cycle all together... that is a biological, on your own time, sort of thing. Your body will start when the hormone levels are at the right place, some are 10 yrs old when this happens some are 19, if your haven't started by the time your that age, I would see a dr, but more than likely it will happen any time in the next yr or 2. It is completly normal to not have started at 13, I didn't until I was 14 and almost in High school. Enjoy not having it, and just be prepared for it to start at anytime. If you are concerned talk to you mom or your Dr, hopefully they would be willing to talk with you about it..

Good Luck!

The average age to start menstruating in the U.S. is 12 and a half.

However, you can start your period anywhere from 9-18 years old and still be considered normal. You've still got a lot of time to have a period, just be glad you don't have to deal with it yet!

Remember that you can still get pregnant even if you've never menstruated! You always need to protect yourself if you're thinking about becoming sexually active.

Its perfectly normal, i didnt start until i turned 14, it is normal to start with everyone around you say like a mother or siter, or any woman you are with alot. If your with guys alot it doesnt have any affect so dont worry aobut htat. the average age to start is from 11-16 so you have a ways to go still.

i got mine when i was 13 so dont worry, ur normal everyone is different. some girls i know didnt get it till they were 14 or 15 so dont worry. most start from 12-14. and yes there is stuff out their that says being around a menstrating woman/girl will alter ur hormone levels and cause u to get ur period. but i dont think its true. ur normal. i didnt want my period b.c i was athletic so once u get it its just annoying. ur fine dont worry about it. when i first got my period i didnt know that i got it, because my flow was so lite. i didnt even notice. but if ur afraid of it surprising u just carry a couple pads/tampons or talk to ur mom she'll have the answers.

I started when I was 14. By the way, who told you that you start with people you are with a lot? That makes no sense at all. The people you hang out with does not affect when you get your period lol
