I have this sort of thing where I will lie about something to make up a good story. Like something I did. And I will always tell myself this to believe it. How do I stop that? It's irritating.

Usually, people who tell lies learned it from someone else growing up or a family member. I was the same way, I could not telling lies. But telling lies is usually about not being able to accept responsibility for you actions. And, it is about covering up for the insecurities about yourself. You are afraid people will not like you if the know the real you, so you have to lie in order stay on pace with friends and family. I grew up poor and all the other kids around me had everything. I felt left out and looked down upon. So I would lie to make people think I was something that I was not. But the only way to deal with lying is start exercising the truth about who you are and don't worry about what other people think about you. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ that He delivered me from lying.

I feel that you're probably really afraid of rejection. You're afraid if you don't select your words properly or you don't provide real entertainment that you'll be "boring" or "unlikable." I suspect this is not something that has just come up either. This has been happening for quite some time now. Everyone wants to believe they will be respected even if they don't have anything to add or don't say the most intelligent thing, but people who fear that rejection so badly will make up creative ways to seduce people into listening. You're getting something out of this and that's why you continue to do that. Once you ask yourself what that is, you'll identify why you do what you do, and then you'll either be able to let it go or better yet find ways to replace that "feeling."

I do it to!
I have told my self repeatedly "stop lying, be honest".
But I can't.
I seriously lied about everything.
I take little things that happened and turn them into bigger things that are lies.
Like I have been sexually harassed[not molested or anything], but i changed the story saying I was raped and the guys went to jail.
Lies just pop out, I made so many lies.
It's so immune to me, I don't even know whats the truth or a lie sometimes.

It's natural for a man to add a little extra to the story it spices it up it's not lying unless you go all out on it. If your a talented writer or poet you can make even the crap stories appealing. If you can grasp your audience with the beginning you might not be tempted to throw in a lie to a story you have.

Christ? Sorry i'm not God or Jesus or anyone holy. You are being untrue to yourself. You lie to yourself to make yourself feel better because your self conscious and maybe self absorbed. Pray to God and ask him forgive you for your lies and to help you stop. It's your free will to do that, so don't ask Christ why, you oviously know why deep inside. keep your head up & learn to love yourself for who you are. If you wanna do somthing with your life that is great, so you won't have to lie to yourself anymore then go do it. Join a sport and win some trophies. Do somthing crazy so you can be proud of yourself after on.

Good luck!

Yeah...that's a problem! Go see a shrink and have a good heart to heart talk about why you can't tell the truth.
