I was camping out in Florida in ocala national forest and met a very nice Canadian couple. and they gave me a pocket knife for my birthday and gave my parents who had come for a few days to camp with me a ride in their canoe which had a little motor on it.and after that i read some about Canadians and i think they have a great culture and society .which counteracted the feelings i had when i was a young hippie and they wouldn't let me and my friends in to their country because we had long hair i believe.that was the reason.and we need health care for all in this country like they do.Peace

First thing to understand is that Canadians are nor Americans. They have their own identity.
I have had many meetings with Canadians through the Rotary club and always found them to be a nice group of people.
They still have cultural ties with Great Britain.

I personally really like Canada and Canadians(huge hockey fan...go figure). The one thing that I would have to say surprised me the most was the vast cultural differences I witnessed when I vacationed in Toronto some years back.....so many cultures were represented.

As an American, I think Canadians are decent people like everyone else. I have no issues whatsoever. Do Canadians feel the same about Americans?

I think Canadians catch a lot of heat because they are more passive but simply because they have less to be concerned with. I envy the statutes they've adopted such as nationwide healthcare and certain gun control measures. The people are extremely friendly and docile. I doubt I could muster anything ill to speak of when it comes to our neighbors to the north.

The only dealings I've had with Canadians is with women on this site. They tend to be hostile and very degrading to the U.S., then they turn around and say how deprived of benefits they are in Canada. Very confusing.

Ayeee?
And what are these misconceptions?
I only met one Canadian family my whole life!
They were no different than we are. A very nice down to earth family.

I don't really have an outlook on Canadians. I don't believe that where you come from has anything to do with who you are. They could be anybody just like Americans.

What is my perception?
They live in Canada.
I would never make a blanket generalization about an entire nation of people.
