i need this for automotive class, I can't find anything on the net... it's all sales of it. i need the uses and characteristics... if you could add pics, that would be much appriciated!

I typed it in Google and came up with quite a bit of info. Here's a started picture for you. Basically its a tool to compress the valve spring to remove it from the engine block

You have any chain type auto part stores close to you like auto zone, advance auto, etc. If so the have a 'loan a tool' program. They have MANY types of tools on the list and you put money down on the tool, get a slip, take tool, use it and bring it back with slip within 90 days and you get all your money back. I know they have 2 or 3 diff type of valve spring compressors on the list.

They make several different types.

Sears has a selection of valve spring compressors in their automotive section next to the tools.
