Soundcard driver got deleted. Reinstall it. It should be in the CD that goes w/ the soundcard or the motherboard. Otherwise download and install a copy from the maker's website.

Go to your sound card manufacturers web site and down load the appropiate driver for XP and Install Be aware that some audio cards have never updated there drivers to XP and you may be forced to get another card or use your onboard audio if you have it. Again the drivers will have to be down loaded

You need to re-install your sound drivers. See if there is a disk which came with your computer that will let you do this. It probably has the word "sound" printed on it somewhere. If not, find out who made your sound card and what version it is. Then, look on their website or call their customer support to get a new driver. They should not charge you for this...they make their money off the cards.

The audio device in your computer may not be compatible with XP. Check the manufacturer's website and see if there's an XP driver. If not, your sound won't work with XP.

There should be a CD or some kind of media that comes with the drivers for it. If not, search the company website for whoever makes your soundcard and sometimes they have the drivers on their website.
