Brady Quinn did not play a down in the Browns' preseason opener. How can the Browns already have enough confidence in him as an NFL starter to rest him in the preseason? The way I see it, he was a decent college QB at best and is not ready for the NFL. I think the Browns are giving him way too much credit up front by not playing him. They should be putting the pressure on him and at least making him play. What do you think?

I would like to add that when people aren't ready, they typically should play in the preseason. That was my whole point. It is hard for me to believe that he is ready, and that is what the Browns are saying by not playing him in the Preseason.

The reason he didn't play was because he only had 5 days of practice before the game, not because he's going to be the starter. They aren't giving him any credit by not playing him - they're telling him he isn't even ready for a meaningless preseason game. He didn't even get the playbook until he signed his contract, so how could he possibly be ready to see action in a game. How many other starting QBs - that aren't injured - don't play in the preseason?? The answer is zero. If they thought he was going to be the starter, I can guarantee he would have been taking snaps. You have absolutely no understanding of the reasons why he didn't play last week or the reasons why he won't be the starting QB at the beginning of the season.

The Browns (or any other NFL team for that matter) don't let you know a player is ready by not playing them - LT is an exception to this rule. The preseason games are how players get ready to play. If teams sat guys that are ready, Manning wouldn't have even suited up for his game.

He had only been in camp for a few days. Don't worry, the Browns stink and Frye-Anderson will do nothing in the remaining pre-season games to win the starter's job...it'll be Quinn by default, with the brunt of the offense going to Lewis at running back & shorter receiving routes so Quinn doesn't get mangled by week four.

It was supposed to be an unspoken punishment for the kid not making it to camp on time. It is stupid for the Browns to sit him down when he needs the reps to see NFL defenses. I don't care if Frye and Anderson get the reps in practice to punish him, but you have to play him in the preseason. The other two have already seen NFL game speed.

I don't believe that he's been named the starter. In fact he's listed 4th on their depth chart right now.

Charlie Frye is the starter for the time being. Did you really expect him to play in the first preseason game? He was only in camp for a few days before the game.

Uh...They're not playing him because he's NOT ready...You answered your own question...They'll play him when they're good and damn ready for him to play...I'm an ND fan, but I think he was a bonehead for holding out...and now he's paying for it...He's not playing because he's NOT ready...and Crennel is obviously not happy with him...Why do you think he refers to Quinn as the "quarterback" and not by name?...Quinn will be the QB eventually, but he didn't do himself any favors or get on the Browns' good side by holding out...Uh, the other reason starters don't play much in the preseason is because coaches don't want to risk injuring their star players in meaningless games...

He went to the psychic to find out where he could get the cell numbers of Rick Meier and Ron Powlus... so he could begin to understand that the media made him into a star at Notre Dame and that he is not an NFL starter. That picture of a clipboard is correct because he is going to make a lot of money if he is willing to just stand on a sideline and hold one for the next 5-8 years.

As far as I know he is not listed as the starter and I would venture to guess that the Browns did not play him as the fact that he is not ready to be in a game situation running their plays. Hold out at camp and missed out on vital learning time, remember?

It's not so much that he's not ready (that's what pre-season is for), but as punishment I would guess for holding out for so long. But is gonna play a crap load against my Lions on Saturday.

How much are you smoking. Dude was in camp what 2,3 days? Although if the Browns have ANY confidence in him they are already screwed.

The Browns are idiots. They think he's going to be amazing, WITHOUT ANY EXPERIENCE. This is why the Browns never make the playoffs and they have one of the worst offense's each season.
