I am sickened by this whole thing. I hope if he's found guilty he rots in a jail cell for the maximum amount of time allowed under the law. If he's found guilty he's done in the NFL for sure, and he should be. I did just see the clip of Byrd that you mentioned. He was passionate and he was right. Barbaric indeed. My youngest son has been a Michael Vick fan for a long time. He's a Bears fan and has fantasized for years that the Bears would somehow acquire Vick (can't blame a Bear's fan for wishing for a decent quarterback lol). He is so upset about this - he's 17 and going into his senior year, and yes, is the quarterback of his H.S. team (proud Mom here). He was talking last night about how when he was growing up he looked up to NFL players as role models, and how over the years he's come to realize that might not be a good thing. Every time he sees a new news blurb roll across the TV screen about Vick he looks as if someone just punched him in the stomach.

Paul Crewe is out as the QB of the Mean Machine, Mike Vick is in... Why have a QB charged with racketeering when you can have a dog killer?
AND After he gets out of jail he'll play for some team in the IFL (indoor football league) which is lower than the AFL2... Which is pretty sad. Thats what Quincy Carter is doing, former Cowboys QB

I don't think you can make the assumption that he doesn't go to jail. With his partners in crime turning on him the odds of him getting off scott-free is pretty much null and void. It looks like he will probably make a plea bargain (if he is smart) that will cost him a year or 18 months in jail and probation. A year or so in jail should not diminish his skills a great deal because he is still young enough to handle the lay off.
As far as playing for an NFL team when he gets out, I mean anything can happen in the world we live in but the PR nightmare will be tough to overcome. Of all the teams, Al Davis could probably pull it off but it doesn't look like Oakland will need another QB with Culpepper and Russell (whenever he signs). I would say he is dead in the water when it comes to professional football.

He is going to jail for at least a year per ESPN attorney analyst Roger Kossic. Even then, Roger Goodell wants to suspend him for the year.
Having said that, when he is released and comes back, I can see the Vikings ( same division as the Falcons, indoor stadium and Travaris Jackson just flat out sucks. ) or the Raiders ( He could comeback as a backup on the cheap and prove himself so that another team could give him a starter job. Plus, you know Al Davis loves ex-cons. ).

He won't play in the NFL again (hopefully). The time is now to get serious about the rising behavioral problems they have. What these guys get for following the rules is too great to not have harsher consequences when they break them.

He is done as a pro football player. There is not a team who will take what will be - in my view - a convicted felon by a negotiated guilty plea or through jury trial - in the new no nonsense NFL.

I think it is very possible that Mr. Vick may never play in the NFL again.
