....delivering food? That would get them some business back.
We have a Denny's up the street that just lost its smoking section in May--they have lost so much money--and have needed to lay off many employees. Would a local delivery service help them regain money, and get some of the employees re-hired?

joe_on_drums: We have waited in excess of one hour for our food at Denny's--and that's between meal times. Then, they don't like you going outside to smoke, because they're afraid you won't come back.

Krissy: Here, there is no longer any smoking allowed in any bars or restaurants. With bars, it's totally ridiculous--you can't bring your drink outdoors, and you can't have your cigarette indoors...

kp: We like going out, too--well, we did, when it was comfortable for us to do so. At least, they shouldn't have banned outdoor patio smoking sections...

Janet D: I live about 2 hours away from Phoenix. At our neighborhood Denny's, the smoking section was in the back--no non-smokers had to go near it. I know the Denny's in Casa Grand used to have their smoking section at the counter--that could disturb non-smokers.

Yes they are losing dollars. So will bars if that lame law gets passed. Carryouts sound like it MIGHT improve business.

Not a chance. Delivering food from Denny's? If you had the money for delivery and tip, you could go to a nicer place and just smoke after the meal...like the rest of us.
A meal only takes 30 minutes at Denny's. What is your hurry to smoke?

I am a waitress at Dennys in Phoenix and have worked there for the last four years. The customers have gone down in count but at the same time more non smokers are coming into our restaurant.I am a smoker and I hate to stand outside and smoke on break but I do care for the customers happiness and in our restaurant it makes a big differance because in most Dennys you had to walk thru the smoking area, counters, etc,to get to non.

It may give a person or two a job, but the whole reason to go out is to go out. I think each establishment should get to choose if it's smoking or not. I know if effects other people plus the smoker but that's like me going into a bar sitting next to someone who is getting drunk, cursing, yelling and then letting them drive home, they are a hazzard to people lives also. And being that DUI is so high right now, I don't see them banning people from drinking, I want to go out and have a peaceful night but I can't when people in the place are drunk. So I have a choice not to go there, just like bars if u know they smoke in the bars and u don't like it, then go elsewhere.

Well, smoking has been banned in restaurants and bars here in California for over a decade. There WAS a dip in business, but things sprang back within a year.
There were several restaurants in my local area who have TRIED delivery... but they frequently give up on it because it just wasn't worth the insurance, effort, etc.
Sorry to hear of the hit to your local economy. When California passed their ban, I refused to eat out in protest... and ended up greatly improving my OWN cooking skills.
So my business was actually transfered to the grocery, and a cooking supply house

they should not start delivering foods...
my state is on the process of the No-Smoking ban, but because our state is the largest of tobacco producers it will be hard.
If they started the no-smoking ban here, yes there may be a dip in business at first, but it will boom back up.
Smokers who go out to eat will spend less time in a restaurant though, thats a fact.

Well if it did i would only support hiring a driver. Unless there is a spike in customers it is unlikely any employees would get rehired.
