Well hon, here's what you need to consider. Cats do a pretty good job of taking care of themselves. But, there are responsibilities that go along with owning a pet. First, they have to be fed twice a day and they must always have fresh water. Second, cats use a litter box and you have to pick up their poop and pee every day.

Also, when you get your kitten it will have to go to the vet for shots and you should have it spayed or neutered. Your parents might insist that you get your kitten de-clawed so it doesn't tear up the furniture. All of this is pretty expensive so you need to save your money.

I prefer male cats and female dogs. Male cats are just more laid back.

I really don't know which breed you should get that would be good with a 3 year old. Our cat is a show-shoe and he's good with everyone.

I think that if you save your money to take care of the vet and you can explain to your parents how you will care for the cat that they might go for it.

Well, the decision is really up to your parents. Owning a kitten is an immense responsible. Vet vists, food, etc. can add up.

I suppose you can offer to do the majority of the care yourself (feeding the cat, cleaning the litterbox, etc.). You really need *actually do the work* if you agree to that though. You may be in for more a task than you think.

As far as what breed and male/female, I love 'em all! :) Other's may have a preference though.

If you get a kitten, please adopt one from a shelter though. There are so many that need a good home! (And don't ignore the possibility of getting an older cat)

When I was young and my parents wouldn't let me have a pet because there were too many humans in the house, I found a stray cat and adopted him anyway. He had to live outside, but I fed him all the time when no one was looking, and he eventually became part of the family.

Do some chores around the house,And make sure you keep doing them, once you get the kitty dont give up cuz they can still get rid of the kitty. The humane societys have a lot and there already fixed/declawed so i would say go there and make sure its a female,Only cuz i have had many problems with males.Good luck

First, your grammar and spelling is atrocious. Based on that alone, are you sure you're old enough to have a cat?

If your parents wont let you get a cat, then drop the subject. Youre not going to get anywhere with them. If you were mature and responsible, it might have been a bit more plausible of an argument.

Exactly. It does sound like you are too young to have the *huge* responsibility of taking care of and being in charge of the life of a living creature. Just wait a few years. Trust your parents - they know what's best for you. ... And what's best for the kitten.

just by reading your question i can tell you are not old enough to be responsible for a pet. your parents don't want to get a cat because they will be the ones taking care of it, along with you and your baby bro. wait until your older & able to be responsible for the cat yourself and then they might let you.

Judging by your spelling and grammar and blaming your brother, You are too childish to have a pet, And I'm willing to bet that you are hounding your parents to no end. You need to learn to spell properly stop acting like a brat and grow up!
