I only want to scan the drawing, but not the paper that it's on, which'll include lil' ripples, dirt, and eraser marks etc...

Try scanning it on the black and white mode...I'm not sure what the technical term is for this...but you have a choice when you scan...it's like color photo, grayscale, black and white and custom....that's what I have on my computer anyway. If you scan it in just black and white then you'll only get the dark lines. Eraser marks won't show. Or you could try scanning it in grayscale and then going in with an effect brush (again this is what it's called on my computer) and editing that out by hand. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hmm...
If you scan from photoshop, you can choose an option to scan your drawing in line art mode, this option will knocked the background paper out and leave you with only the sketched line.

go thru paint and crop it.
