If the laptop has built in 80211.B-G it should be able to detect the router and walk you through the steps to initiate it into the system. Just turn it on within 50 feet of the router and look in the lower right hand corner for the connection icon, click on the icon and open the dialog box Flow the steps and you'll be connected.

If there already is a wireless capability on the second laptop just clone the setup from the first one into the second one. You could let the setup program write the parameters onto a plug-in thumb drive or a CD, or you could just write them all down on a piece of paper and retype them into the second laptop. The setup program offers an option to save the info to external memory so that is easy but there are so few things you need that writing it down is not tough either. Take tat setup information and use it with the setup program in the second laptop and both will be up and communicating through the router and onto the Internet.

If the second laptop lacks a wireless capability get a wireless USB adapter and plug it into any USB connector on that laptop. The setup CD for the adapter will walk you through the few simple steps.

Are you sure it is a router and not just a modem? A router does not require installation, just a network connection and adding another computer is as easy as providing the new computer with the password required to connect to the network.

Sharing a modem is a little more complex, but covered quite well in the MS help files and possibly in the modem's help files too.

Hi,
Just click your Wi-Fi connection on your laptop and you should be able to see your router, then connect and set your WEP and bingo you should be connected. Hope this helps you.
