I would check the charging sytem first. Take it to a parts store and have them test it for you. then in a dark location make sure the engine compartment light isnt staying on as well as the glove box light, then if the problem still exists you will need to check the system for a draw. This is something that you might want to take to a shop as it can be time consuming and there are certian test proceedures and tools required

RE:
Draining battery in 2003 Chevy Tahoe V8?
I purchased a used 2003 Tahoe in March of this year... We were good till about 1 month ago my truck started not starting, we would have to jump the battery off or charge it to start it. That would last for about 3 or 4 days, and then we would have to start the whole process over again. We bought...

It sounds like you have a battery drain. A lot of times these are caused by an interior light being left on. Did you check the rear cargo light or the switch for the rear tail gate or glass. Also check the vanity lights in the sunshades and the glove box light for going out. The only way to properly check for a drain is to install an ammeter into the positive battery post and battery while the truck is turned off with no lights on whatsoever. You can do this with the negative post as well, but not both. After a certain amount of time the battery draw should drop to around 10mA. If it doesn't, you have a draw and you will have to start unplugging fuses to determine which circuit is doing the drawing. Then you will have to diagnose this circuit to find what is actually on or shorted on. Good luck, these can be a bear to find.

I have a 2003 Tahoe and the battery goes dead but not all the time. I might go weeks with no problems and then one day I will go to start it and its dead. Mine is a intermiten drain that does not happen all the time. Alt has been checked and is fine, battery has been replace. how do I go about finding this drain when it doesn't happen all the time?

I own a shop, and have seen this many times before. Since you have rulled out any lights on causing the drain, there is one answer. Your alternator is bad! It has a blown diode in it. A blown diode will let the alternator charge some, but not enough to keep the battery up, if you use anything electrical in the vehicle, it will drain down. Go to Auto Zone, and have the alternator checked with the lights, heater, and other stuff on at the same time. I'll bet you are below the volatage it ought to be.
Glad to help out, Good luck!!!

I had a '77 Olds Cutlass with close to the same problem. If I drove it everyday, nothing was wrong. If I leave it to sit for about 3-4 days the battery would be dead. Turns out it was the alternator. The diodes in it were bad and draining power out of the battery while it sits. Hope this helps.

It may be that your battery has given up, IE not holding a charge. But it is worth having the car checked out with it's charging system. Sounds like battery especially if it is the factory fitted battery as the vehicle is nearly 5 yrs old now

It's probably a bad alternator. Normally to avoid any problems you should have your battery and alternator changed at the same time. Many times the alternator can actually drain the battery if it isn't working properly.

if u r listening 2 music in the Tahoe without it being on it will drain the battery fairly quickly if u do not turn it on.... it has happened 2 me many times.... wen turned on it is using gas n no battery energy that is normally saved for ignition..... wen it is half on like wen u don't turn the key all the way it is using all battery nothing else n it drains it fast if it is in that state 4 a long period of time... turn it on wen u do that
