Im one of the Boomers and at 55 I think I am a better driver than I have ever been. I am a lot more careful than I have ever been and a lot wiser when it comes to driving. I dont really like driving that much though so I let someone else drive if I have a good driver as a passenger. We dont have public transportation here such as busses and to get into a taxi with a stranger is unthinkable to me. At a certain age here the senior citizens have a pulic van and I think its free so when my time comes that I can not drive responsibly I will get rid of the car and take the public van.

I still can drive. I had the horrible experience of getting my mom's license suspended, though.

I think that the DMV should start testing physical driving skills when people reach 60, 65, 70. After 70 people should be tested in a car with a DMV person, every other year.

Don't get me wrong. I know plenty of 80 year olds who drive very well, but I still see so many seniors polking along, not paying attention, becoming a hazard to other drivers that the state should set up mandatory testing for them.

I'm 60 and I would be glad to take a driving test. If I'm bad, please take me off the road!

I can still drive, but prefer to take a bus. Everyone who can should take a bus or some other form of mass transit. It will reduce pollution, the price of energy, and our energy dependence.

I am very glad that I made this decision at an early age, for not only am I doing the world good, I don't have to worry about what I am going to do when the day comes that I can't drive.

I still drive. And I know there will come a time in my life when I won't be able to do so physically because of reduced reaction time and the like. Still, I do get around by myself. Earlier in life I dfrove in Japan for eight years. That required passing a written test with a score of 92% or better, passing a road test with a score of 92% or better and passing the mechanical test with a score of 90% or better. The latter test involved pulling my car onto the shoulder, exiting along with the examiner, taking the spare out of my trunk and changing a wheel and opening the hood to demonstrate to the examiner that I could check fluids and make minor repairs.
I think if we had those driving requirements in the U.S. most of our interstate highway system would be a collection of bowling alleys. LOL!

I still drive and I will not stop until I know thta I am a danger to others or, myself. I am 52, I think I have a lot of driving days left...God providing!

I do not think that seniors should be mandated by law to stop driving! I do think thta seniors, when not able, should hand over the keys!

I drove myself from North Carolina to Idaho at 59. I don't drive at night anymore as my night eye is just not good. I was thinking a few weeks ago that maybe I should consider not renewing my license this year. Then I had a truck pull almost into the side of me from a turn lane and I managed to miss him so I figured my reflexes are still just fine. I will renew and carry on.

79, still driving, but I watch myself closely. I will no longer drive on long trips without frequent rest stops and I will not drive in cities. Right now, because of the cost of living, I am living in a rural area. I took a memory test and my mind is still running good. So it still works for me.

I can still drive. I think we should stop driving when we are no longer capable, physically or mentally. But how do you decide? An annual independent medical examination, over a certain age, or for all.
