I have a predicament and I need you guys to help me out. Here's the Situ:
I got a red eared slider about a year ago. he was an inch and a half big. he's grown to be about 5 inches. In that time I bought him a 40 gal. tank to live in. Thinking the tank was empty, I decided to get some fish for him to eat. Liking the activity in the tank, I decided to get more fish, one's that were more visually appealing. Now, I have a fuller tank, but every now and then one of them *suddenly* disappears. i've grown attached to keeping the fish and the turtle has kept my selection quite limited. So the dilemma is...would it be bad to surrender the turtle to keep fish instead? I know for many of you it's not an issue but I feel like I'm *betraying* the turtle. After all, I did buy the tank for the turtle.

Just let me know what you think. Thanks!

I don't have goldfish. Goldfish don't deserve a tank lol. I have a rainbow shark (my fav.) som giant danios, some tiger barbs, a ton of loaches and other stuff. I've really grown attached to the fish and many of them live for 10 years or more.

And I can't have two setups, there's just no space and that stuff is expensive!

Ultimately, you've got to do what you've got to do- but the turtle deserves a good home- not just dumped back in the wild.

The turtle is worth more than some silly fish. Fish are cheap, the slider not so much. I would keep the turtle instead and get something like some newts or frogs to keep in there with him, that way you have more than just him and its not boring.

you may desire to get a land turtle rather of a water turtle they have way much less salomnella and are air purifier then a water turtle you nevertheless save them in a tank yet in basic terms provide them a brilliant bowl of water and a brilliant land section they want heat lighting fixtures and a warmth pad that is going below the tank yet they're particularly neat and exciting purchase some purell and after coping with the turtle use some purell it works super

I really dont think you should get rid of the turtle i mean fish die really quick anyways. If I were you i would talk to someone at a pet shop and ask them what type of fish you could get that wont be appealing to the turtle. Maybe some larger fish wont disepear as quickly.

Get a few guppies - they increase in number and the turtle will naturally go after them rather than the larger fish - he eats the guppies - they supply him with more every three weeks and your fish are spared....all problems solved!

why dont you separate the fish and the turtle and keep both, I would, but I suppose its whether or not you can facilitate 2 tanks and the setup thats goes with both. Good luck, hope you sort it out!
