Doesn't matter they need each other! Thats whats wrong with our society. Friendship is based on love, bond, and relations. The level and degree is determined by the individuals envovled. The greatest disaster to human relationships was the day we descided to divide love from it and put it in its own catergory. Romance isn't love. Its only part. Besides that friends can make great lovers, but lovers rarly become decent friends. This is due to the fact that at the center of any deep, meaningful relationship is a friendship. But in all truth, the love comes frist, how for we take it and were we take it determines weather we call it a friendship or a love affair or just some jerk we just met. Theres no fundemental differeces in reality, just the fantasy we create around it. Thats why so many strangers get married have kiddos and find out wow I really don't like you, yea I love you, but I can't stand who you are. Its because they lived the fantasy of romance to the point were it couldn't fake it anymore. Friendship is everything to any relationship, but it needs love, but love is nothing without friendship. Again Love is never enough, its how you use it that determines the nature of the relaitonship. SO things are alot more complicated and at the sametime simplier then we were orginally taught. If you don't believe find some random cute guy fall in love, then try and make him your friend, o wait everyone does that, and thats why we have a 75% divorce rate society, because they want to seperate the two.... sad, sad, sad......

Friendship comes before love. Friendship is the basis of love and hence friendship comes first.

when you ask who gets preference, I assume you mean lover vs. friend. it depends on the situation and the length of both relationships. if you talking about you've had this best friend for as long as you remember, but you just started dating this new guy, then the friend does. however, if you're talking about marrying this guy, starting a life, building a family, then the guy comes first. but don't neglect the friend because you'll need her too! good luck!
