I read her books to the point where they would fall apart in my hands! "Are you there God, it's me Margaret" has to be the best of them all.
I think I may head to the library and check out a copy of it just for the nostalgia of it.

I'm 36 and, like you, grew up reading Judy Blume. There were quite a few I didn't or don't recall reading ('Superfudge' is one my husband read but I don't have any memory of; of course he'd never admit to reading the 'girly' ones). My favorite is 'Margaret,' and I also loved 'Tiger Eyes.' My copy of 'Margaret' was so worn I had a hole in the paperback cover from where I used to hold it; recently on eBay I found the same edition and was thrilled! Reading it again was effortless; it was so burned in my memory
A book you might enjoy is 'Everything I Needed to Know About Being a Girl I Learned from Judy Blume,' edited by Jennifer O'Connell. It's a collection of essays by Judy Blume fans and made me want to revisit some of those old stories (even 'Deenie,' which turned me off way back when because I thought it was a stupid name).

I loved Judy Blume. I started with the Fudge series, so those are probably my favorite for sentimental reasons. :) The other book that meant the most to me was "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret." I must have read it a hundred times. I was reading it in the late eighties, so a lot of things were outdated, I remember trying to figure out what some of those things were. "Blubber" was really sad to me, I think I only read it the one time.

Yup!!! I read Are you there God? It's me Margaret when I was 8 and that's where I learned about menstruation.
I went to a small christian school where they made us think we were sinning if we asked about those things, so we didn't have "the video" or anything.
Without Judy Blume, I would have freaked out when I first got mine!

I sure did. Almost all of them, save the couple more racy titles which I wasn't allowed to buy.
I liked Deenie, because I had a close friend with scoliosis, so I could relate to the character.
Are You There, God was great, too.
Blubber is a classic for any tweens battling the bulge during puberty.

Sure did! She was fantastic, and I have to say that "Superfudge" was my favorite...guaranteed to make me giggle for hours on end!
Sure does bring back memories, I still have all of my old books (especially the Apple Publishing ones) in storage to save for my future children! They don't write em' like that any more!
Have a great day.....

I loved her books, but allot of girls these days dont seem to like them as much. I dont know, but I loved learning about puberty through a girls viewpoint. My favourite was Deenie.

I really liked "Blubber" and "Are You There, God." I even remember reading "Freckle Juice" and "Superfudge" when I was very young. She really is great, isn't she?
