I have so many birthdays to remember: family, friends, associates etc. What are some creative ideas for keeping a record of such dates. My current method of tabulation (using a calendar for jotting) doesn't help much because the next year, after the previous year's calendar has been tossed, I'm back where I started! Any ideas? Thanks.

Download a free desktop calendar with a built in schedule. I use one from http://www.rainlendar.net which works great. You can enter birthdays, holidays, appointments, etc. and they can be for one time or recurring. There are also many skins available.

My Dad had that problem... would forget the birthdays of his sons and his Anniversary (ooops) !! Heck, he used to call us #1 - #4.

MOM cured him of it by having HIM buy her the new calendar each year (a traditional Xmas gift)... he would have to take the previous year's calendar and mark down the B-days and Anniversaries. Of course this was back in the 60-80's before personal computers. Was amusing to see him hunched over his desk like an old scribe, transfering data to the new calendar.

I do it these days using Microsoft Outlook and making them recurring events (annual) with a 2 week, 1 week, and 3 day alarm cycle.

Good Luck !

BEFORE you throw the old calendar out, at the end of the year, sit down and put all those dates on the new calendar before the first of the year. Then you're set for the whole year. Repeat the process every year.

Hi:

If you have Microsoft's Work's or Office than use the calendar feature -set your reminder to what you want it to remember, than set the recurring feature and when you want it to start reminded for ( like a week in adavance of the date or a day and how long you want it to remember it ( other words send it over to the next year { like your wife's birthday or something}) for then your in bussiness because everytime you log on to your computer, it will check a see if you got something you want to be reminded for and if the date come up. it will pop it on your screen.

Printmaster, Printshop, and American Greeting Cards has the same feature too.
and check around any computer store and see if there are any calendar program that can do this too.

Or if read your e-mail alot ( like Yahoo mail or MSN Hotmail.) than use there Calendar feature as well just Sign in to your home page Select the Calendar and Start setting your reminders and if you want to have them and set the reccur feature for every year or not. than set the email address to where you want them to be e-mail . and your in bussiness.
when you go to read your e-mail they will send it there.

Thank you for asking this good question.

Hope this helps.

Zsaza - I'm the same way, I blame my 2 kids for my lost memory! tee hee!! I have an event calendar that I use. It is perpetual which means I can use it year after year! I put it in a place that I see and walk past everyday. You can decorate them however you want. Go to my website to see what they look like www.doresa.myctmh.com and search for event calendar under the "shop online" Zsaza, hope this helps you, I know it has me.

There's a good calendar on Microsoft Outlook. click on calendar and you can add your dates and save them AND you can click on the alarm symbol and get Outlook Calendar to create a reminder pop up for however in advance you need to be reminded of a date. You can also make the event reminder a recurring one, year after year after year......

I love it and use it all the time.

You have the my documents files, make one and name it birthdays. put each person in there with the date of their birth next to it. Each month look in the file and wtite on the calendar of that month the birthdays. Post the calendar where you will see it constantly ( on the frig., cabinet, desk, etc.). You should also have an alert file, each month put the birthdays in that.

Get a calender that doesnt have the years just dates like sept 1, 2 , 3 etc. so you can use it forever, then put the b-days on there as you learn them and keep it on your wall and give it a glance every day to see if there is a birthday!

I have been using this free desktop calendar for years.

You enter the birthdays once, and there is a box you check to make it reoccur each year, do you only do it once. Also on the special date, it'll pop up when you turn on your computer when you turn it on. You can't miss. If you need extra time to shop, make it a week early.

Get a handphone and record down all the birthdays of the different people you know in the calender options. This way, your phone can remind you a week before the actual date of someone's birthday.
