Depends on the source of protein.
If it is soy protein, it will absolutely do the opposite of what you want, since soy blocks your body's absorption of nutrients including protein.
If it is dairy and meat, you'd better be sure that it is "certified organic"... without bovine growth hormones... which can really mess you up as well.
If it is whey, that is also a dairy product, so it had better be certified organic as well.
You still need all the building blocks of body tissue, which all these sources are devoid of. I would suggest checking into raw food sources.

I don't think that eatin 250 grams of protein a day is as bad for you as drinking of eating fattening foods, but I do think that it is excessive.

The body can only absorb so much protein a day and I think that 250 grams is above that amount so the remaining amount could be being stored as fat. I have heard that athletes need a minimum of 100 grams of protein a day. Depending on how big you are now is going to determine how much protein you need a day. I would reccommending cutting back to 150 grams of protein a day because protein is very hard for your body to digest.

the formula I know is to take your weight in pounds (160), divide it in half (80) and that's how many grams of protein you need to stay healthy. how healthy more than that is depends on what form you are ingesting. if you were eating massive amounts of meat, it would be very bad. if it's in the form of a protein drink, I don't think it's as bad. still, you're taking in over 3 times as much as you need. drink a protein shake after you work out with weights and you should be OK.

Dude, your body can only actually absorb a certain amount of protein at a time. Everything else is wasted. And trust me, i know that protien is not cheap, either in foods rich in it, or supplements. Too much of anything (even if its a good thing) is bad for your body.

It depends how serious you are at lifting. Big, heavy, weightlifters consume 1.5-2 grams per lb because they workout enough to need it, like 2-3 hours a day everyday. Normal lifters usually 1 gram per lb.
