Barack Obama potentially could win, but it is doubtful. Right now, it looks like the woman, Hillary Clinton, will at least get the nomination for the Democrats; unless Al Gore enters the race, and if he enters, Hillary Clinton will probably be nominated for Vice-President.

I honesty don't think Obama can win,he's too politically naive. The Rep. spin doctors will make mince meat out of him,he isn't doing himself any favours by making himself look like a chancer.
I suspect it's too late for Al Gore to step forward now and i fully expect Hillary Clinton to get the nomination.
If i was still a gambling man i'd back her for the ultimate victory but it would open the race up no end if the Greens or the Libertarians secured serious funding and a high profile candidate.
In my humble opinion, not known for being very humble,Hillary will be the first female President of the USA.

The rigors and stresses caused by the process of becoming a president would corrupt anyone. There are so many competing forces and vested interests that ANYONE would be ruined by the act of consolidation and conquest.
Thus, perhaps, A black president would be no better, necessarily, than any other color.
They might even be worse, by the logic that they would have more obstacles to surmount (re. the tradition of a white presidency), requiring a level of political cunning and Machiavellian thinking as yet unseen.
They would perhaps also be more dangerous for being able to appeal to the hidden guilt in the American psyche, in form of a promise of racial forgiveness and empowerment (and revenge?) which would be so emotionally compelling, that the American people might allow such a politician all sorts of political transgressions and corruptions.
So, i guess we'll have to wait and see.
I'm up for another Kennedy myself.

I think that that has already been decided, Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the USA, and I think that she will present a more outward looking USA to the world, and revive interest in politics as a whole to the country.
For too long, the fundamentalist, right wing hawks have held sway in the US, but people in the USA are ready for an extreme change of policy. Especially if it get rids of the right to bear arms amendment.

I can't say for certain, but I have my preferences.
What I really would have liked to see this time around was a Clinton-Obama Democrat ticket facing a Powell-Rice Republican ticket. Now THERE'S a race I would stay up late to see!

I bet Oprah Winfrey could do it if she wanted, but I don't think she'd want to take a cut in earnings or lose her influence on the nation.
