Everywhere in the UK is more expensive than anywhere in Canada. London? Forget it. How often have I heard that despite the roughly two for one exchange rate, what one expects to pay a dollar for, one must pay a Pound.

Cost of living in UK is very expensive.

For example, any house near London is likely to cost in excess of £300,000 and to get a Mortgage at this level you will need to be earning at least £50,000 a year... (and will be paying about half your income on Mortgage repayments)

Someone on £30,000 is considered 'poor' .. at that wage your only option will be renting a small (1 bed) flat = and even that's going to cost you at least 1/3rd your wages ..
