Is he becoming overrated? There are times when his lyrics are weak, and lately he's been calling himself a top 5 Mc.

I like Kanye, lately he's been on a down fall, and he's saying he's the 3rd best emcee after, lil wayne and Andre 3000( I understand Andre, but NO to Wayne)? Are you kidding me? and it doesn't matter if he's on every remix, so is Wayne, does the make him the "best rapper alive", NO!!!

hes nice with his, once in a while he is kinda weak, he evens admits he takes a long *** time to write some songs..remember jesus walks the 1st verse was co-written w/ Rhymefest & it still took him 6 months to finish..

im not gonna lie, i was dissappointed in him when i read that the "stronger" lyrics took him 4 months to write...the idea and the concept of the song is great but the lyrics, come on, you coulda at least had Rhymefest finish it up for you....

overrated...a little bit..i know College Dropout is a classic, i listen to that album every other day, Late Registration was great but not as good as C. D.....and as much as i respect him, no way is he a top 5 M.C. now or ever. Top 10 of today, maybe.

No he's not. But in pop culture everything reaches it's peek, until that artist makes a "come back". All rappers fall off at some point & produce something very commercial, even Jay-Z, but hopefully they make it back to there roots. & if you think about it he is one of the top 5 mc's (right now!)

I can not STAND Kanye West. He is so ignorant and self absorbed. Did you hear the lyrics where he said that they should re-write the bible to put him in it? WHO SAYS THAT? He is not all that and whoever told him that he was LIED. I don't like 50 cent either, but I hope he embarrasses him on Sept 11th with record sales!
He tries to act soooo hard-core, but many people don't know that he grew up in the SUBURBS! His parents both have college degrees and do very well for themselves. So all those songs you hear about his struggle and how "gangsta" he is.... Its all b*llsh*t!!!
I am so glad you asked this question, cause as you can see, I needed to vent about this

lyrically he 's better than 50 but I wouldn't call him a top 5 mc maybe in the bottom half of the top 20

like sum artist when they first come out with music they are virgins and hot and not to full of the lime light... they have actual stuff to write about and they re fans..(us) can relate to them... But as for Kayne he is a good artist YES... is he overrated at times YES he can be.. but he controls that.. artist to me are the ones that control they're career and their appearance in the public eye.. he can be bit arrogant at times.. but i still say he is hot.. his first 2 Cd's were good.. slowly he will fade .. hes not hustlin!!!

he should get back to producing .. hes a genisis wit the tracks..

I love the guy. I love his political lyrics. I never found him overrated. I think the term overrated is overrated. Who cares, really? He's out there doing what he loves, and getting his voice heard. Kudos to him and he just happens to be speaking for me too, because a lot of what he portrays in his lyrics is similar to what I've thought and think of politics and the world today.

When you're that famous, there's room for *********. The guy is amazing, I love his lyrics, I love his music. I'd love to meet him. =) He's an inspiration.

before i clicked on the question, all i could see was Kanye West... the first thing that sprung to my mind was "overrated!"

He is now, he used to be ok but now i think he tries to hard to keep up there in the top few...i wouldn't say top 5 though!

Eminem went downhill drastically - people loose their shine eventually!!!!!!!
