there still are milkmen that delivery to homes, but really the phrase is one of those that in a few more years younger people will wonder where it came from just like the song Ring around the Rosie, was about a plague, but now is just a silly children's song

We collectively could change it. But I do not think everyone cares about changing it. What it means is that you do not look like and/or act like your father. That dos not mean that you are not your fathers child just that you are different. Its an old expression.
