What paperwork is she going to have to go through to get him back her legally and how long do you think this process will take.

You should advise your friend that marrying a foreign national does NOT automatically qualify him to be re-admitted to the United States.

Under the circumstances you describe it is unlikely that he will be re-admitted.

I really think your friend is wasting her time, money and effort. Even under normal circumstance ie long term relationship and lots of proof of it.Both having the correct and recognised paperwork ie birth certificates passports and proof that she is not already married in the U.S..A.
He will probably not even be granted a tourist visa into the United States Deportation is looked upon as a serious matter.
Because he has already been deported as an illegal alien I think if she really does love him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Then she had best resign herself to living in Egypt for the U.S. government is extremely strict about these cases.
I feel sorry for her but he will likely never be granted U.S. citizenship.
The onus is actually on him for he would have been aware of his status in the United States long before it got to the point were he was deported.
If she was my friend I would impress upon her just how difficult things may end up for her is she sure that he is marrying her for love or to gain citizenship. For it sounds as if it is something that they have not looked into very deeply.
If she is absolutely sure then I would suggest that they marry in Turkey, Greece or another nearby country.
For Egyptian/U.S citizen marriages are no longer carried out in Egypt .
So be a good friend and make sure she is sure!

If he was deported its mandatory to stay out of the states for 5 years unless he has a criminal record then it would be at least 10.

I have been here 11 years, he was deported and I would have to go to the states and do an affidavit of support or an I1-30. I went before to work and save up pay stubs to do the affidavit of support. I stayed 3 months and he couldn't be any longer without me. Wanted me back right away.

Many people coming from different countries come because they married Egyptian and have stayed for various reasons.

Now I have 4 kids, and I want to relocate my family, but I have to leave the kids behind so I can work, get a place and save money. Then do the paperwork required to try to get him into the states.

We have tried a number of times and the paperwork we did, they never submitted and he was refused. After a number of attempts, money and time spent, medical checkups etc, it ended up us having to stay in Egypt. I am at the point now that I need to go back on my own and try to work it out from there.

Edit: Its 20 to 25 if convicted of a felony and 5 if he has no felony convictions. Here's the link to that.

She should also think of the implications and her legal status as a wife IN Egypt. The laws are definately different and she better make sure she can get home. This sounds like a horribly bad idea.

marrgins someone who is not a U.S. Citizen does not automatically make them a U.S. citizen.
I know. My mom is German and she married my stepdad and he was an American citizen. She did not automatically become a U.S. citizen but she did have legal residence in the U.S. SHe just got her citizenship after being in the U.S. for 10 years last year.
He still had to go through the citizenship process to get his citizenship which costs about 700 dollars now. I just went and got my citizenship paperwork started last week.
He will have to fill out an I90 form to gain citizenship.

unfortunately your friend won't be able to marry in Egypt now cause the American embassy doesn't give a proof American citizen to marry Egyptian citizen(that is the new law).I married my husband this January,we got lucky cause after that they stopped doing that.
If he is a Muslim and she is a Christian they can go to another Muslim country and get married up there.the first thing that she has to do is to go to the American embassy and get a proof from them and after that they have to go and follow the next steps.HE CAN GO TO DOWNTOWN(WHERE THEY DO INTERNATIONAL MARRIAGE)AND GET A LIST OF WHAT YOU NEED.
I HOPE THAN I HELP YOU A LITTLE BIT.GOOD LUCK TO BOTH OF THEM.
