A previous post had the following as part of the question. Words fail me as to just how wrong and sick this idea is. I'm just dumbfounded.

"Unwed mothers who cannot afford to support their child will have it removed and taken to a group home where it will be raised, educated, and taught decency from a young age. Why not Foster Care you ask - too many problems and variables. Group homes can be monitored more closely."

Talk about a socialist state! I bet this person thinks Hilary is wrong when she says it take a village to raise a child.

This person is seriously delusional if they actually believe this would be positive for kids. I read the original question and frankly the ignorance of a statement like that almost made me sick. The government is NOT A PARENT. I have worked in the system - even the best group homes are not a replacement for the love of a parent - even one who is unemployed or unwed.

actually I think you may have to call that a nationalist state.. not socialist.... and (even though this is out of context.. I'm going to run with the meaning from what you have posted here and assume it's the same) I doubt you'll find many people here in the US that agree with that statement.

Would you please cite the question? I would be interested in seeing the whole context of it and exactly what it was referring to more conclusively. But, I agree with you, Ceausescu and Romanina are pertinent examples of the flaws inherent in this type of system.

I agree. Goes to show what a limited perspective will do for you. I thought conservatives were for smaller government? Not when it pertains to legislating morals, I guess.
