Yes, dreamcatchers work, but they occasionally get clogged.

If you have a bad dream, take the dreamcatcher outside and shake it gently. The shaking will loosen up all the bad dreams stuck on the dreamcatcher, and they float away. Then rehang the dreamcatcher.

Traditionally, the Ojibwa construct dreamcatchers by tying sinew strands in a web around a small round or tear-shaped frame (in a way roughly similar to their method for making snowshoe webbing). The resulting "dream-catcher", hung above the bed, is then used as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares. The Ojibwa believe that a dreamcatcher filters a person's dreams. According to Terri J. Andrews in the article "Legend of the Dream Catcher," about the Ojibwa nation in the magazine World & I, Nov. 1998 page 204, "Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through . . . Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day."

Another legend (Lakota), according to St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota, "Good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web, where they perish in the light of dawn."

The suggestion about unclogging the catcher is absolutely correct. My kids when they were younger would complain about nightmares occasionally, so we purchased them all dreamcatchers. They really do work but take them out and wave it around on a windy day to clear the old dreams. Good luck!

How Do Dream Catchers Work

If you construct a dream catcher yourself you will find it works much better. The differences being, the density of the web, the ring willow or metal, the color of the ring's wrapping, the color of the web itself, the material of the web, the colors and placement of the feathers and their wrapping. Plus, when you construct the Dreamcatcher your aura is spread through it.

The correct term is Native Americans.

Anyway, they work if you believe they will work. IT's all about mind over matter.

No it is all in your unconcious mind. Your mind is very powerful. you could make yourself sick just by your mind thinking it, and not actually have any illness.
