Despite having been bitten, several times, I am still optimistic
enough to believe that each time will be different.
The many bad experiences, are outnumbered by the few good experiences.
Think about it!!!!

Hi Rena,
Yes I agree. Even when someone is annoying others or does not realise the problems they are causing, I always try to see the good in them.
My thoughts are: that person has a wife/husband, mother/father, family, loved ones. They must have qualities other people love.
Maybe it's an idealistic point of view and in some areas despite this, where there is a conflict in personalities/beliefs/opinions/attitude as for instance we are currently having with a committee member who gets everyone's backs up and is causing a lot of trouble, well we just have to accept he doesn't fit in. Basically everyone has threatenned to walk out if he stays and I don't blame them. Our problem at the moment is: how do we tell him without hurting him? But yes I agree, I try to see the good in everyone.

Rena, I got to say it would be nice if we could afford ourselves the luxury of finding the good in everyone. It probably exists. However, it would be extremely risky in doing so. I believe there is such a thing as healthy paranoia because there are demented people out there that will take advantage and hurt you. Remember Ted Bundy? He was a nice guy, but a serial killer. Enough said. Hope your day goes well.

Yes i do. It's the way it ought to be. To look on the goodness of people and not the badness of his side. Looking on the badness of a person won't bring him up but rather down. What benefit a person could get if we choose the weaker side of a person. Nothing but a seed of hatred. So it is so obvious that the goodness of life should prevail. This sum up that with goodness in life builds happiness in life too.

Yes. But even when you seek out only
the good in people you'll still find that
some are pure evil; whereas, some
simply want to be bad; and others are
merely pretending to be bad.
But I know where you're coming from-
still I prefer to proceed with caution.

'build bridges, not walls' says my wife's keychain.
it's easier to find ways we are different, because differences stick out to all of us like sore thumbs. what's not 'normal' is cause to stare... or worse.
it's more rewarding though to find that kindred that exists in each of us. what do we ALL share, regardless of culture? what things do we wish for ourselves, for our neighbors, our children? i'm betting there will be a lot more in common that we might think if we'd just take the time to listen.
on this level we all have an "ah-ha!' moment when we come face-to-face with another who shares our beliefs, concerns, and ideals. it unites us as individuals and as humans, and makes us feel a little less alone in the world...

From psychological experiments done in the 50's and 60's it is obvious that the capacity for average people to do terrible things is enormous. And from other experiments and experiences it is also obvious that the capacity for ordinary people to do wonderful, selfless things is also enormous.
First and foremost I've always looked for the best in people, only noting their weaknesses in order to protect myself and others. Outside of a couple of notable instances, it is the 'good' attributes I recall.

I used to look only at the bad in people because it was my job...sort of...when I was a police officer. I suppose that job just naturally turns one cynical and you see bad in everyone...including yourself. It took me about five years after I left the job to think like a normal person again. Now I definitely try to see the good in people, including myself.

Of course I do. It's best to look at something in a positive light, because it strengthens the bonds of the community at large. Looking at things in a negative light is usually both irresponsible and detrimental to society.

Doesn’t have to try just does, most of the time anyways. Always forgetting the bad. Usually doesn’t like to hear the bad either always saying "don’t tell us bad things about people we don’t want to hear it".
Nah, our differences are our greatest strength and weakness all wrapped up in one we’re fascinated.
