I don't hate my job. I don't do that much work and get paid a reasonable amount of money topay my bills and have a little fun. However I am entering two other entrepreneurial(?) ventures that I anticipate being more lucrative and, obviously, I will have control. However I'm not a natural risk taker and I am dreading the thought of leaving my job and having both my businesses flop. I have some savings to cover myself for a couple months. Yes I have to leave the job to be fully committed. I figure its time I invest in myself. Any entrepreneurs with words of advice?

I say follow your dream.

Working for others will always be an option, working for yourself may not be.

To start, a business will need a lot of investment of time for little pay though, so make sure you can cover yourself until it becomes successful.

First let me say that I am not an entrepreneur. However, I left my job of 3 years last year to pursue a job that was better for me all around. As a single parent and soul breadwinner for my family, I took the risk of getting into something that might not last, or something I might not like. Well, I have been here for almost 9 months and I absolutely love what I do! I am happy with my co-workers, my boss and everything is working out. I was scared to death to leave my other job and the comfort of stability, but it worked out. I think you should go for it. Take a deep breath and do it! You have already said that you have money saved to cover yourself in case it doesn't work out. Also, make sure to keep an updated copy of your resume and don't burn any bridges. Put in two weeks notice. You never know when you might want your old job back. Good luck on your exciting ventures!!! :)

I agree it will take your full attention to start a business. I'm not sure what kind of business, but if you can't get started making money in the first 3 months it might be a better idea to hold onto a job part time untill the money is steady. But if the business you are starting takes more time than you already have I would say go for it and the money will come. As long as you enjoy what you are getting into the money will make itself. Good luck!

Just do it...like ripping off a band-aid...one motion, and it's over. Then you can start your new life, eh?
