The law used to be that they could only play the music whilst they were moving to warn people that they were close. And not after sunset as it was classed as disturbing the peace.

I know I've heard the ice cream trucks in my neighborhood play their music for longer than 11 seconds.

They can play it for longer but only provided that the ice cream man is standing on one leg and jumping up and down while the music is being played.

Well i don't know about 11 seconds but i was telling some one about our ice cream man he was a psycho his music was so loud it used to set the car alarms off,i was abit grouchy one day & shouted at him,funny enough he ent been back,haha..but enyway my friend was saying that if you say to the ice cream man you don't want him to come to your street,he can't refuse,I don't know weather that is true or not iver..

Not sure but, as both my children know well, when the music plays it means the ice cream man has run out of ice creams!

Not our guy, he's been around the area for years and unfortunately plays Greensleeves, it's mind blowingly awful.

If it's true, it must be a local ordinace where you live. Most places they play a lot longer than that.
