Secrets - is there someone in your life that you tell EVERYTHING to or do you hold back just a little bit?

Do you protect some part of your self by keeping secrets?

What abt at work - if you had a best friend at work, would you tell her everything about you or keep some stuff private?

people say they tell everything to their best friend- but i just don't believe it. nor do i think its a good idea. sharing your life with someone is one thing, but there's a lot to be said for discretion and keeping your own counsel.

I keep some things private, in my heart. You never know when someone may misinterpret what you are trying to say. That is what happened to me when I tried to explain to a very close friend a while back some actions I had taken. It wasn't that I was trying to justify what I had done, it was her own personal experience in a similar situation that she related to, and did not see it as a different situation all together.
I have a deep spiritual relation with our Creator and I know He knows everything about me, and can relate to me what I need to know about myself and teach me to accept my place in this world.
I understand the need to get some things off your chest and tell someone and get their viewpoint, but like your question says, I have a deep need to protect myself, because I feel no other human will do that for me.

i tell one person everything, and that's just because she doesnt bother me much, so i can tell her when she does; usually i tell best friends/family most stuff and omit the stuff about them that would hurt their feelings. although, i tell my boyfriend alot of stuff, with little exceptions, but my one best friends knows everything--good and bad.

i dont think it's bad if someone keeps stuff to themselves though,...me personally, i'm just not a private person and thinks it's healthy not to have too many secrets and to be honest with one's self as well as others

also, i dont have anything to be ashamed of, so it limits my secrets. i DO get ashamed when i'm saying mean stuff about a friend or something, that's why i dont say it to their face..i'm working on that. but hey, everyone thinks a friend is annoying SOMETIMES and why ruin a frienship by saying a minut detail...that's just my philosophy.

i do want to say, that i dont TELL everyone all my stuff; i just dont try to hide it either

It is very important to keep some things private. In life you find people that you feel that you can trust then in a blink of an eye they can turn on you. So in order for you to avoid being too vulnerable keep even it's only a piece of self to yourself.

I tell most of the stuffs to my mom, slightly less to best friends, but I keep the darkest secret to myself (and I still succeed in doing that!)

The most endurable relations follow the cardinal principle of 'need to know basis' plus some fillers[akin to gossip].We should part with only so much information to anybody,which is essential for that relationship.Try it and it would prove to be a wise approach.

I always hold back a little bit.

A person who's considered my "best friend" knows as much as 95% of what there is to know. I use to joke about it, and every time a friend of mine says that I surprised him/her I say it's the missing 5%...

no,i never tell anyone everything.somethings should remain private.keep in mind that sometimes friendships end on a bad note.and the ex-friend may tell all your personal business.i learned from experience.
