Just pay it and put it down to experience. We could all claim to have broken down and ask for our penalty to be lifted. This just proves what I have known all along. Owning a car is an utter waste of money. The car loses a hefty chunk of its value as soon as it leaves the showroom. The insurance is constant dead money, fuel is expensive, parking is expensive, and illegal parking is even more expensive! Not to mention the ongoing repairs and tyres etc. There is no need to own a car in most average sized UK towns. The bus is cheaper. And if you think the bus is unreliable, simply get an earlier bus! I got rid of my car last year and it was the best move I ever made, I lost weight, saved money, and I never get a parking fine! (It was actually getting a ticket which made me get rid of it.)

hi, bludy traffic wardens!! you can complain there should be an address on the fine you have got, the problem is if the complaint goes on, and passes the 28 day period for paying the fine and they find that u were in the wrong then u will prob have to pay more than the £100, and if it ends up going to court (in extreme cases) and you lose then you will also have to pay the court costs! i would maybe suggest that you pay the fine and still lodge a complaint and hopefully if you win then they will refund the cost of the fine! hope you sort it out

Go back to the shop, and hopefully you brought something, try to get proof that you were in the shop at the time of the ticket. It would be even better if the shop owner could verify that your car was broken down. Take all this information to the place where you pay the fine and explain. They will supply you with a form objecting to the penalty and this also extends the period that you have to pay....
Hope you get justice...

Pay the fine, then complain to the local authority, provide receipts for the car repair to show the reason why it was on yellow line.
