Where's my husband? He could save one and I could save the other.

Similar to a scene in the recent version of War of the Worlds... Cruise's son wants to fight the aliens and a couple is dragging his daughter away... he chooses the daughter, despite languishing about the decision for a minute.

I'd grab the son, I'm strong and would probably be able to save both of them. Besides, my daughter would know how to swim since I was on swim team/lifeguard, etc... I'd grab the son, because, according to your scenario it seems the son will definitely die while the daughter might make it.

Re: gender... I think most women would lean towards saving the son, and men towards saving the daughter...

Who knows of a cultural bias out there... a country / etc.. that would clearly save one gender first before the other?

This question needed work before you posted it. Your daughter is DONE by the brook.

Go for the one I'm closest to, and yell for my spouse to get the other one.

Or even better, grab the one off the cliff, then dive off the cliff into the water to save the other.

There is no "one or the other" in my books. Just creative solutions.

My son first. Because he can't do anything about it if he slips. But my daughter can try to fight it and will be able to hold her breath for a while and also try to swim to safety or at least to the surface to catch another breath. That will hold her off longer and buy me time to haul my son up. Provided he doesn't pull me down! LOL! And then we can go together to go get her. 2 people doing the search in the water's better than 1!

If it were me i would save the son because if he fell there would be no way of reviving him from the fall. My daughter could always get pulled out of the river and i could use CPR on her to bring her back. I would also see if my husband is around to see if i could get one of my children if i can't get to one of them.

Well, my son has a parachute attached to his back and my daughter is an excellent swimmer so, I drive merrily on my way secure in the fact that they will survive these dreadful ordeals.:)

Grab the boy; the fall would be instant and cause broken bones/internal injuries. Then go after the girl in the water; she knows how to swim/hold her breath, and even if she goes under, I know CPR.

Grab the boy first, and then go back for the girl... you might be able to use CPR to bring the girl back if she is near death from drowning, but you can't resuscitate someone from being mangled on the rocks below the cliff...

i would save ur daughter. Your son has a higher chance of surviving the fall where as your daughter is most likely gonna drown. I would also save your daughter because she is passed out and could not survive as long do to her condition

I don't have any kids but I wouldn't save either of them. I would grab my camera and film my son falling.

Tough one. The only way I could make that decision is which child am I closer to. I would have to save the one that I could actually get to in time. If I tried to get to the one that was furthest away, I may lose both of them. I just hope this is a decision that I actually have to make.
