My common-law husband and I have a son together that is 2yrs old and we sign our rights away to a lady from the church. The agreement(unwritten) was we would still have visitation and pay no child support. Well, we signed the papers a yr ago and the judge finally signed them to make it completely legal a few months ago. the only problem is, in our papers, it talks about our visitaion, but there is no set time or place. We are suppose to go back to court soon, she says, as she is the only one who has a lawyer. This is suppose to be completely "friendly" and between us. The main problem is, everytime we call to make plans to see him, she says yes and then something always comes up. This has been going on for about a month or so now. They also recently moved and she hasn't told me precisely where to. There has got to be something we can do to still see our son. Does anybody know of anything? I hate to think she is trying to screw us, considering she is a good christian and all.

First mistake was signing the papers with out reading thru and not having an attorney. I know you can go to legal aide and get one for free.. Be sure to look for one, so you have one when you go back to court. I hope its not to late now, Since you signed the paperwork already, and the Judge signed it now and made it legal, it may be to late..

Try to appeal any thing you feel is unjust to you.

Look up Legal aide in your City/Town -State.
