If you are going to release it in a week, then diet is not critically important, but try to offer things it might find in the wild. For example- some answers included fruit, melon, cucumbers, etc.- but where would a wild Box Turtle find stuff like that? Bugs and dark leafy greens are enough for now.
THANK YOU for not keeping it. Box Turtles are in trouble in the wild and need to be left alone.
I would like to point out, however, that taknig a wild animal home is not really 'finding it' since it was not lost. What you really did was 'kidnap it' from its real life.
When you find a wild turtle, snake, frog, etc.- it is best to leave it alone (photograph if you wish). If you DO take it home for whatever reason, please release it back where you found it ASAP- ideally within a week or so.
A good site for Box Turtles is http://www.boxturtlesite.info

Did you know when you find a turtle in the wild, take it home, and then later release it, it will spend the rest of it's life trying to return to it's real home. it is never a good idea to remove a turtle from the wild. To many people do this. If you do return it to the wild take it back to where you found it. Also, in some states it's illegal to own such pets because they are protected.
They are scavengers and eat all sorts of things. Worms, crickets, vegetables, and fruits. Worms and strawberries seem to be a favorite of the turtle that lives in our classroom at school.

I appreciate you not keeping her. In many states, box turtles are categorized as endangered or special concern, meaning they're headed in that direction.
Boxies love earthworms. They eat dandelions, which are high in calcium. They also like clover, strawberries and season fruits

You can give him fresh fruits & veggies... for example, broccoli, grapes (red or purple - not the light green ones), melon, collard greens, pea pods (snow peas), mango, apple, bananas. You can also give him dandelion greens and flowers (yep, the weed!).
Wash your hands after touching him. Don't kiss him (don't let your kids kiss him, either). Turtles naturally carry the salmonella bacteria, and it can make you very sick if you're not careful!
