I have 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1L. My coolant light blinks on and off but my fluid levels are fine according to the resevoir. I took it to an Uncle Ed's and they said the level was fine also. It blinks at a slow pace, comes on for a second and is off for a couple of seconds. I was wondering if either a fuse was bad or the sensor was bad.

Check the coolant in the radiator when the engine is cold. Some vehicles have a sensor about four inches from the top and when the coolant level gets below that the light will come on. The radiator cap may not be working properly to cycle the coolant back into the radiator, whereas the level in the reservoir may be fine and the coolant leval in the radiator can be low. If the coolant level is fine, look for a sensor either in the radiator and the reservoir and test it/them.

check it in the radiator while cold then start it and then add till full i had a 91 corsica that light would come on and off and for as little as 10 ounces of fluid you could have some restriction in your cooling system fill it at the radiator till it is full all the way around and if it still occures i would recommend going to a autoparts place to get cooling system flush and flush and clean your system it is easy to do not expensive and the result is usually what you are hoping for especially if you have added water to the system then the chance that there is restriction is higher
hope this helps

The sensor is either bad or just dirty and needs to be cleaned. good luck.

you dont know what a fuse is do you? when too much current or heat,, fuse "blows" cutting circuit...no blinking involved...On or off...check sensor.
