Lots of miles to cover, so nothing too soothing, but no heavy metal, either.

'damn the torpedoes' was the first petty album i ever owned, and one of the best... 'don't do me like that' still makes me smile when i heare that sneer. 'southern accents' if you're in the mood, perhaps the first few hours of the day riding on a misty interstate, singing along: 'hey hey hey, i was born a rebel, down in dixie...' will put you in the mood, especially if interstate10 is on your agenda for the day.

if you must mark the hours by pink floyd, 'a momentary lapse of reason' will give you a soundtrack to travel by. you may find yourself having several momentary lapses as the transitions jar you, so be aware...

what else sounds like mainstream, 'on the road' highway tunes to me?

joe walsh, 'there goes the nieghborhood'.
jackson browne, 'hold on hold out'.
blondie, 'parallel lines'.
styx, 'the grand illusion'.
bob seger, 'against the wind'.
joe jackson, 'look sharp'.
bruce springsteen, 'the river'.
robert plant, 'pictures at eleven'.
inxs, 'kick'.
supertramp, 'breakfast in america'.
john cougar, 'scarecrow'.
eagles, 'the long run'.

you should be almost there by now... have a safe trip.

If you're gonna be on the road, might as well bring Tom Petty's new album, Highway Companion. It's amazing
Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here
The Doors- Strange Days
The Who- Who's Next
The Grateful Dead- American Beauty

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
Lynyrd Skynyrd's Greatest Hits
Go with Pearl Jam's "Ten" too. Great album!

Full Moon Fever or a greatest hits
Dark Side of the Moon
I would add Garbage, either their first self titled or V2.0
The two you mentioned are older, so maybe Neil Young Harvest would fit in. Are You Ready for the Country was always our road trip song.
Cheap Trick at Budokan the Complete Concert that will keep you rockin for a while.

Supertramp - Breakfast in America
Styx - Paradise Theatre
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (How can anyone NOT have this?)
The Eagels - Hotel California
Neil Diamond - Hot August Night
Robert Palmer - Heavy Nova
ELO - Discovery

That should give you enough variety for a while.

Anything by Nightwish just love it at the minute. Nemo, Gethsemane, Planet Hell even their take on Phantom of the Opera is worth listening to. Blame my son, strange the youth of today, but he plays it constantly!

Safe driving.

for pink floyd...
you go with echoes to get the best from every album, or you could go with the wall for a nice long drive.
take your pick.
