I used to live in one of the last places in the USA that still has a V-J Day parade---Moosup, CT. Depending on your point of view, this is either unnecessary (because there's Memorial Day and Veteran's Day), racist (because it doesn't celebrate victory over Nazi Germany or Fascist Italy---just the Japanese) or patriotic.

Coverage of the newest parade by the local rag's e-paper:

Happy V-J Day back at you. The date is something that slipped my sights and should be honored with a mention. It is not in the media so sadly not on our calendars. We see this more and more, even in our own family. Tomorrow is Uncle Daru's Birthday and it is so grossly overshadowed by Elvis.

Morning Billy! Thanks for the history lesson today. The Yaholes have deleted my question about spending the evening at the Lonely Mountain with pizza and root beer floats... I'm so sad. Nice way to begin the day don't you think?
