It looks like there have been some successes but there is still a long road to hoe. The insurgents still maintain a lot of strength in the country and are obviously still capable of causing a lot of chaos.
I wish I had the answers to battling suicide bombers, It's a tough challenge and new territory for the US.

Iraq isn't even a country anymore. The infastructure is shot, anyone with any sense and a few dinars has left the country. If there is any law and order it's because of some local warlord in command of a milita. The Kurds, 1/5 of the population have long since written off any loyalty to the concept of a Greater Iraq. Tribal loyalties based on what flavor of muslim you are trump any other consideration and the US backed toy Iraqi 'government' has no influence, no power and get's no respect. The US miltary is now mostly a target with zero ability to control events. Any 'success' now is reported as the number of Iraqis our forces kill or capture....which hasn't put the slightest dent in the number of guys with guns and suicide bombs running around blowing people away. No matter how you slice it, it still comes out baloney. Worse, nobody seems to really care. The so called 'news' doesn't even report much about this cluster $%#^ in Iraq. This week it's been all about coal miners...last week it was some other trivial BS....next week it will more nonsense. Meanwhile good men under the command of the Moron-in-Chief continue to die for nothing. Why that isn't news is a real mystery! So much for the 'Surge'......bogus!

Even reporters for the New York Times have said the war in Iraq is now winnable due to the surge. The surge is definitely working if you look at all the statistics that were the goals set in front of Congress for it.

Iraq have "weapons of mass destruction" was the core issue for war as US & UK claimed , but there were none ,
so morally it was a big set back for US & UK ,
Sadam was a mercyless ruler, but if we count the death tol of Sadam's 22 years rule and 4 years of US controled rule the ratio goes 1:100 ,
since the start of war USA tried his utmost to make Shias and Sunnis kill each other , but USA failed to do so ,
so note one thing for sure USA can not come out of this war at his terms.

Our troops have succeeded in killing more people, whether civilians or military, and far too many more of our young Americans will not come home on their own two feet, if you consider that a success.
Far too much death and mass destruction.
It only shows that man has not advanced far from the dark ages.
I mean, man can go to the moon, but he can't prevent wars and do away with capitol punishment, while caring for his children, ill, and his elderly,...
...but above all,
man just can't maintain "Peace"?

Seems to me that there should be some type of law that would make all people wear clothing that isn't loose and stop travel with all vehicles. Tight clothes would reveal bombs and no car bombs would be going off.
Caught with loose clothing, you could be shot. Caught driving, you could be shot.
If our troops could start profiling and discriminating (which is bad all the way around) they could start weeding out the garbage.
What would your solution be to bring peace to a nation infested with radical Islamists? Tuck and run? There is no easy solution for fighting a faceless enemy that hides behind innocent civilians.

Yes, the Bush administration has successfully increased the amount of oil that it steals from Iraq daily from 100,000 barrels to 300,000 barrels. They realize that they only have 15 more months left to get free oil.

War is hell. The US is having military success in Iraq. Even the most extreme liberals, like Senator Biden, have admitted it.
No one can stop suicide bombers. It has been going on for many years. However, Israel has not lost and is still a sovereign nation.

We can't win this war with a "surge" or any other form of conventional warfare. We need to fight fire with fire - stop pussyfooting around and kill anyone harboring our enemies.

Things are horrible in Iraq today. Yesterday was an especially bad day. The surge can’t protect the entire country and it never had any hope of doing so.
