They want as many people possible reliant to as much of an extent as possible to the government. That ensures votes to keep liberals in office so the gravy train can keep rolling.

I don't know how all liberals feel, I can only give my take on it.
It appears to me as if conservatives believe the only reason people are on welfare is because they are lazy good for nothings intent on abusing the system to keep from working. It is as if conservatives believe welfare recipients sit around eating bon bons watching soap operas all day while laughing at the chumps out there earning a living. While I admit there are some people on the rolls that do this, in my experience, generally the ones on the dole are young single mothers with infants and young children. These young mothers are uneducated, poor and without an ability to survive on minimum wage jobs. Minimum wage jobs alone will not support rent, medical expenses, child care, utilities, and food. It cannot be done in a minimum wage earning household. If minimim wage earners want to advance themselves by going to school and earning a degree, therefore being able to become a "productive" tax paying citizen, they are unable to do so because of the costs involved in getting said degree. Education is the avenue of escape for the poor. Educating them about getting an education is of paramount importance in the situation.
"Others have done it, so can these bums!" conservatives scream. I would argue that the others that have done it were educated about getting an education so that they could raise themselves out of the circle of poverty.
Conservatives want welfare recipients to go to work, any work, yet don't want to raise the minimum wage to a livable level.
Conservatives want wefare recipients to go to college and get a degree, yet they don't want to fund colleges and universities or programs that target poorer constituents which would enable them to climb out of poverty.
Conservatives complain about welfare recipients, yet give no viable option to caring for the poor other than lame excuses that the churches and philanthropic organizations can care for the poor. While these organizations are worthy and noble causes, they cannot handle the sheer volume of need by themselves.
Many conservatives spout religious doctrine as their guiding principle, yet ignore Christ's message of love and generosity toward the poor.
So, while I understand the aggravation of many "tax paying" citizens about the problems of the welfare system, I would urge them to look deeper into the issue other than to where knee jerk reactions would lead them .

Liberals don't genuinely set out to exploit poor people and take advantage of them.
Liberals believe that poor people are incapable of summoning from themselves the hard work, discipline and diligence, to improve their lives. They believe government is the only answer. Liberals believe that capitalism oppresses people, they have no chance in a capatalistic society.
The largest factor contributing to this belief of liberals, is the corruption of the liberal ideology. Way back when, before civil rights laws were corrected, liberals had a just cause. Since all the laws that needed to be changed, have been for some time, liberals practice getting even for sins of the past. Liberals have lost their moral compass and now practice the same sins that they used to rail against. Liberals now are focused on converting society to socialism; poor people are just road kill, for liberals to exploit for power.
If you wonder why liberals support false black leaders like Sharpton and Jackson, who pervert Dr King's message, they have lost their way, committing 2 wrongs make a right policies.

Welfare reform in the 1990s addressed the basic problems with the welfare system.
Why are you obsessed with welfare? Not that many people are on welfare. This is just a diversionary tactic so that average Americans won’t focus on the economic problems that many are dealing with. Stirring up anger against the small number of people on welfare is ridiculous.

There will always be people that take advantage of any system, the few who do, are no excuse to punish the majority of people who aren't.
This is the same type of logic we fight against when protecting the 2nd amendment even though criminals are out there shooting people.

While the libs would definitely appreciate it if more of these people actually voted, but the truth is, most of them don't bother. Heck, they are too lazy to work, you think they are going to go somewhere, wait in line, just to vote for someone. Especially in Massachusetts, where for some reason that God alone knows, we have enough people voting Democrat to keep us in a perpetual welfare state indefinitely.

yes they do, at about the same rate as the conservatives want to do the same thing. I hate george w and just about everything he stands for, but why hasnt he abolished welfare for the poor during the last seven years, while he had the rest of the government on his party side too? Just think, that would probably amount to a couple extra weeks of war in iraq at 15 billion a week.

the Solid South quit growing cotton...now the White Massuh runs a different Plantation.
dey grows democrat votes. ignorant, lazy, 'womb-to-the-tomb' welfare cheats whose votes are bought and paid for with money taken by the force of law from other people who are working to pay for the rolling generations of do-nothings.
we need a Revolution. to throw the illegals out, to imprison the likes of Killer Kennedy and KKKlinton...to end the gravy train for congressmen who are fixed for life on pensions that most people could never dream of, and to end welfare for the able-bodied forever.
