you will need to fill out an application and provide recent check stubs and living expeses like utility bills, they base you eleigibility on that, also you will probably have to provide information for anyone else living in your home

Look up in your local phone book or contact Social Services in your County and they can provide you a list of food banks that you can visit if you are "working poor".

The downside is you will likely have to wait in line for an hour and you will get perishible goods that are about ready to be out of date. Great if is is milk, not so great if is is twinkies or cakes, but at least it is still edible.

It was the worst day of my life when I had to go to a food bank to feed my family, but feeding your family is more important than pride. I have a bachlor's degree and thought I would never have to resort to a food bank. There are those that won't make you fill out a mountain of paperwork to be eligible...just show up and wait.
