With the Internet there is always going to be a risk, no matter what.
But i have been a member of PayPal for two years now and have never had a problem, they even chased up an item that i bought and never received. I found their service worth the small risk.
They are one of the better protected websites that i have known, they do not contain viruses and keep their software for hackers up dated regularly against any intrusion.
So i think that you have less of a chance of having your details stolen from paypal than you do from someone stealing your wallet and going psycho with your original credit card.
But paypal also has other ways that you can use it, you don't have to give them your credit card details, what ever you buy you can, if indicated by the seller, send a cashiers cheque or a money order using paypal to provide you with the sellers approved address. And you have a record of every transaction you make with other sellers, so you always have your invoice at hand should something goes wrong and they will help to rectify it for you.

i use paypal a lot - buying and selling on ebay, i can also use it for buying at Boots, and other well known on-line stores - thus far i have had no problems its quick and easy and of course an instant source of payment - disadvantages i can't think of any - risks, well i suppose there will be a risk in anything you do on the internet with your credit card but the seller will not find out your details which is comforting.

There are only risks if you don't have a good program to protect you from viruses Bullguard, AVG Anti-Virus or spy sweeper is a good programme. With paypal it is only dangerous if you share your bank details with other people.
