I have read may different stories on African Violets. I have one from 2 years ago and it fails to bloom. The leaves are there, seemingly healthy, but a lighter shade of green than when I first brought my plant home.

What can I do to make her bloom?!

I'd recommed a couple things:

1.) Try repotting it with a potting soil made specifically for african violets.

2.) Give it more sun.

3.) Give it a little fertilizer. You want a light fertilizer that isn't too potent. Try a natural based fertilizer. Bat guano and redworm compost from rabbit manure make very good additives to the soil to provide nutrients.

I would recommend repotting it and using African violet fertilizer. It can have a little direct sunlight if it's in the morning or late afternoon when the sunlight is not as hot. Perhaps it's not blooming because the room is too cold or too warm. AVs will bloom when the temperature is in the 70s.

put the beauty in some sun for her to get vitamins, add a fertilizer with higher pottasium, 10-30-10, for better flowering. When you go to a flower shop or a garden centre ask there if they carry a fertilizer high in pottasium. I hope this helps! Good Luck!

African violets come from Tanzania - they get lots of light. Keep in near a window, no cold draughts, and feed it too - plants need food as well as water, just like we do.

If they don't get enough light, you get lots of leaves and no flowers.
