The news reports say that Imus is getting $20 million to settle his suit against CBS. He was suing CBS for $120 million. And he may be back on a NYC radio station.

No, he deserves the whole $120M. The b@st@rds at CBS & MSNBC clearly violated his contract, they had no right to fire him, they hired him to say provacative things. He's settling for less to leave an opening to come back, because he wants to be on radio again, though clearly he doesn't have a financial need to. (I suspect he'll endorse the check over to his charity). I'd rather have seen him take the whole amount of damages he was entitled to, plus punitive damages, and then maybe after making a billion dollar mistake, some corporate PR suit will think before acting. Imus isn't a racist and neither am I. He was willing to admit he stepped over the line, he was willing to abide by a punishment that was stipulated in his contract (suspension). He was willing to apologize to the offended. The company he worked for violated his contract, and he's clearly entitled to damages.

The CBS honchos say it's nowhere near $20 mil. He says it is. Only CBS, Don and the lawyers know.

Everyone has their opinions. You can examine zillions of them at the below board operated for radio folks.

Imus reached a settlement with CBS Tuesday which frees him up to move on.

WFAN hired Boomer Esiason to take his place.

I've got my opinion (Imus got hosed and is a blowhard - Sharpton is a blowhard who did the hosing) but it doesn't matter. The subject is covered in more depth than you can imagine at the below - and these are mostly radio people - as am I (and sometimes the sadder for it).

But here's the big secret very few people know: one of Imus' sidekicks was sitting behind him during that infamous show. When the subject came up, the sidekick said the words: "nap......oes," Imus heard him out of his bad ear and repeated it to see if he'd heard right. The mike picked it up. The rest is history.

Sharpton and the rest picked up on it. Imus had been a big, expensive thorn in CBS' side for a while and here was the excuse to save the company a bunch of money.

Here's another interesting back story: He made the remark on 4/4/2007. Joel Hollander, president of CBS radio was scheduled to be roasted by a prestigious radio scholarship foundation in mid June. Hollander, Imus' boss, held on until the roast, but was fired the day after the black tie event before most of the attendees even got their flights out of town. It was quite the affair - I know someone who was a fly on the wall. Hollander brought in all his own people for the roast, including his brother who was also fired within a week. also one of Imus' writers was a roaster. Hollander would not allow any outsiders to take a shot at him - at what is traditionally a raucus, take no prisoners affair. During the dinner, the Hollander brothers were chatting and laughing about the fact they'd both be gone. Great gossip, eh?

The poster child for rascism doesn't deserve anything....That's why he's being sued by a member of the Rutger's basketball team. I hope they all take a stand and sue him and get all his money.....Give it to the young ladies who deserve it
