im 40wks+6 and had a membrane sweep done yesterday! for the past 3wks i have been trying every trick under the sun to help bring on labour but nothing has worked! i thought that having the sweep done would get things going but so far i havnt felt anything yet, no tightenings or cramps! i went for a long walk last night hoping this would help but all its done is cause a pain on my pelvis bone do you think this is the babys head engageing. ive been loosing my mucus plug slowly since i had the sweep, do you think if i had sex would that get things going or can you suggest anything else because im booked in to get induced on sunday and would prefer the baby to come before then

well, it worked for 2 of mine and i suppose theres no harm in trying. If youve been loosing your mucus plug then i shouldn't think you will be long before your in that delivery suite. Just make sure that everything is ready and your all nice and relaxed. A nice warm bath is supposed to help too. So my suggestion is clean up, bags ready, sex a nice warm bubble bath, cuppa then youll be there in no time oh and good luck!

sweeping was done for me as well for my 1st born, but he came after 1 week. I had my labor pains only for about 5 to 6 hrs. my delivery was quick and easy. Just keep walking , that is a good thing to do at this time, but don't exert yourself

if this is your first baby your baby will have been engaged for at least the last 6 weeks, and it will come when it is ready, nothing you can do will make any diffrence,so enjoy these last few hours to relax and sleep

try having sex. i read in an article that a man's semen has a subtsance that would cause contractions that would hasten labor. If this doen't work you hould ask your doc to have you induced.
