srs stands for supplemental restraint system to turn it off you need to have the srs system scanned and the problem fixed it could be anything from wiring to a sensor to a bad air bag

The SRS light indicates a fault with the airbag system.
To get the light to go out, you have to get the fault repaired.
Find an eg MG-Rover dealer (see http://www.xpart.com/html_content/specialist.htm ) who can connect to the airbag system's diagnostics to identify the fault, repair the fault, and the diagnostic system will not notice the fault anymore (because it isn't there) and will not light the light.
Do not try to do any repairs on the airbag system yourself unless you are specially trained (if you are, you should not have had to ask this question). Airbags are pyrotechnic devices, and can be dangerous.

Air Bag lights won't go off until the fault is repaired. And The code is not diagnosisable with generic scan tools. Could be something simple or very expensive.

I used to have an MG ZS, and had this same problem. It is either a problem with Air bags, or the hand brake. When mine was due for an MOT, it failed due to the the handbrake. Once fixed (and £120 lighter), the light never came on again.
Short n sweet... take it to a garage and get the hand brake checked....
Apparantly a very common problem on MG's
