256Mb ddr3 BEATS 512Mb ddr2. 7600GS is slow because it is just a downclocked GT. Don't buy any card with ddr2. Otherwise you will regret it.

7600GT is probably better even with less ram. Check out this site for a huge list of video card comparisions.

Besides, most GS models suck. More ram is not always better, it also depends on the fill rate, GPU clock speed and other factors.

I run and 8600 GT now with 256MB ram, and it crushes my last video card that had 512 because it's a newer model with a faster core clock. If you can afford an 8600GT @ about $130, i'd go for that, and you'll be able to run about any game in high detail without spending $400 on the latest 8800's

7600 gs 512mb ddr2 is better because 512 means there is more ram..

I would also say the GT- depite having less ram, it has GDDR3 instead of the much older GDDR2. Also, the 7600 GT scored better in benchmarking according to http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=387&card2=385
