Because it is rotten and similar to the evil fruit which Adam took a bite from.

Apple — For the favourite fruit of co-founder Steve Jobs and/or for the time he worked at an apple orchard, and to distance itself from the cold, unapproachable, complicated imagery created by other computer companies at the time — which had names such as IBM, DEC, Cincom and Tesseract. Other rumors may apply, but this seems to be the most popular, although nobody REALLY knows for sure.

The first respondent hinted at the truth then rolled into a ditch.
Jobs and Wozniak have said they picked that name because an apple symbolized knowledge, after a fashion - - call it forbidden knowledge, the unlocking of a new area of knowledge, etc.
I don't exactly like the connection, myself, and I have always wondered why, given their flippant proclivities, they didn't call it SodomandGomorrah Computer.
Peace

Steve Woznaik and Steve Jobs were the founders of APPLE Computers.
He was three months late in filing a name for the business because he didn't get any better name for his new company.
So one day he told to the staff: " If I'll not get better name by 5 o'clcok today, our company's name will be anything he likes..."
so at 5 o'clcok nobody comeup with better name, and he was eating APPLE that time...
so he keep the name of the company 'Apple Computers'

Steve Jobs may have just called it as such arbitrarily. It is just a name. If it were called Brainiac, it would still be the same computer.
