Try using some clips and do a french twist in the back instead of a plain old ponytail or bun. It will also make you look a little more 'done up' since you can't wear much makeup. Some pretty headbands can also spice up a ponytail or similar style.

Try wearing a loose bun...or if you cant fathom that, one of those hair net things that holds all your hair in a net bag at the back of your head might work better for you- not like the lunch lady type hair net, but the 1940's movie star style!
