Does it have tags?
Because if the tags are on the purse/wallet, it's most-likely not real. Louis Vuitton's tags aren't connected to the purse itself, they stick them in the purse/wallet.

If the person who gave it to you is really generous or has extra cash to spend then it could be real. LV wallets cost about $300+. Take it to a LV store & ask a manager to confirm if it's fake or not. There are so many "mirror" fake wallets that everything is identical as a real one, except the craftsmanship. The only one who could really tell would be a LV manager.

Check the zipper, if it glides easily and stops at both ends of the wallet on either side it is probably a real one, if not, it is a fake. You could also just come straight out and ask the person if it's real or not.

every louis vuitton product has a unique identification number on the inside. Also, pay attention to the details: fastening zip, interior cloth and such. They all have to be of superior quality this is why these brands look as new even after many years.

The only true way to know is to take it to a department store that sells it.

There are so many fake purses going around, that it is really hard to tell.

Did you get it as a gift? Don't stress whether or not it's real, you're better off not knowing.
